Simple, straightforward pricing

How I make a living…

I charge a flat rate of $125 per hour for all services. Billing is in 15-minute increments.

Please note that estimates are based on expected conditions and may change if unforeseen complications arise, in which case the job may exceed the estimate. To avoid unnecessary costs, please clear the work area of any debris, obstacles, or vessel equipment that could hinder my progress. I appreciate your cooperation.

Urgent/weekend service, at your request, will incur a flat service call fee of $125 in addition to the standard time.

Some of what I do…

Presale inspections

  • For a flat rate of $125, the vessel examination will encompass the visually accessible portions of the interior and exterior of the hull, deck, engine, prop, electrical systems, battery health check, zincs, auxiliary equipment, and fluid levels including the lower unit. A written report and photos will be provided if the customer is not in attendance.

  • You can add an engine diagnostic information report. This adds screenshots of the verified engine hours and any active or inactive trouble codes present on the ECU. Prices in conjunction with a presale inspection are $50 per engine.

  • Sea trials will be charged at the normal labor rate of $125/hour in 15-minute increments.

I like new stuff too…

New equipment purchases will require a deposit.

Computer diagnostics and engine information are:

  • $125 for one engine

  • $225 for two engines

  • $325 for three engines

  • $425 for four engines

Steering system purges will come with a charge by the amount of oil your system consumes, minimum 1 quart. If your oil is not clean (orange, or of a motor oil color) you will be charged for 5 quarts of Seastar Hydraulic Oil. That is the amount my system holds, which is now contaminated and will need to be replaced. I ensure every customer has clean steering fluid in their system with every purge service.

A consumables charge will be added to every invoice based on the type of work performed.

  • Mechanical consumables $25 - encompass a wide range of items, such as rags, cleaning agents, degreasers, protective coatings, lubricants, penetrating fluids, and other expendable materials.

  • Electrical consumables $30 - encompass a wide range of items, such as various sizes and style connectors and terminals, cleaning agents, protective coatings, zip ties, and other expendable materials.

  • HAZMAT Disposal Fee $20 - Anytime oil, batteries, or any other type of hazardous materials are removed from your boat, I will collect it and ensure delivery to the PBC Solid Waste HAZMAT Facility.

The not so fine print…

*The vessel examination encompasses the visually accessible portions of the interior and exterior of the hull, deck, engine, prop, electrical systems, battery health check, zincs, auxiliary equipment, and fluid levels including the lower unit. A written report and photos will be provided if the customer is not in attendance. If you’d like to add an engine diagnostic information report to this as well you can, fee applies.

** With the correct engine information, I can ensure the correct parts are on hand for your vessel. This approach often results in saving us both time and money by avoiding potential issues with incorrect parts. You're welcome to provide your own parts, but please note that you will be charged for my time if they are incorrect. There will also be no warranty on my labor or services provided for customer supplied parts.
